The APVMA decided to make this page to show our student's different organizations that can help them through their undergraduate and pre-veterinary studies to achieve their short-term and long-term goals. These organizations are for any students who may identify as a minority or underrepresented individul in the field of pre-veterinary medicine. 

Organizations 

Black DVM Network
BlackDVM Network was founded in 2018 by Dr. Tierra Price, a then veterinary student, who felt isolated in the profession. She was looking to connect with people who looked like her and find mentors she could relate to. She created BlackDVM Network to serve as a place to connect Black veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and students.

Pride VMC
Pride Veterinary Medical Community (VMC) is an organization that was founded by a group of LGBTQ+ individuals. Their mission and purpose is to provide a better world for the LGBTQ+ veterinary community. They are here to serve and empower individuals to embrace wellbeing by being their authentic selves. This is an outstanding organization that supports inclusion, diversity, leadership development and mentorship. For more information, please click here to be directed to their website.

Pawsibilities
Pawsibilities Vet Med is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups into the veterinary profession. It was founded by Valerie Marcano, DVM  & Seth Andrews, PhD. They created this organization to  help pair students with mentors to build a veterinary network and expose individuals with different or similar experiences. Voice
Veterinarians as one Inclusive Community for Empowerment (VOICE)  is a student-run organization that seeks to increase awareness, respect, and sensitivity to differences among all individuals and communities in the field of veterinary medicine. It was founded by students at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine to increase awareness and sensitive to social-cultural issues in the veterinary field. Latin Veterinary Medical Association 
The Latin Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA) was founded by Juan Orjuela, a third-year veterinary students at the Ontario Veterinary College in Geulph and Yvette huizar,  a fourth-fourth year veterinary student at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. They created this organization to increase the interest of veterinary medicine to latin veterinary professionals and students. LVMA is open to all latinx people of all genders and sexual orientations. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Latinx culture is encouraged to join. For more information, you can visit their website here and their social media pages.

Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association
​The Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2014 to address this need. We seek to foster a community of veterinary professionals from diverse backgrounds and cultures to create a mutual support network for our members. Furthermore, our goal is to harness the collective knowledge of our members to address both our own needs and the needs of a modern, multicultural society.
